An estimated 170 contestants an d their families will start to arrive on Wednesday the 10th with a welcome dinner and back-number ceremony at the former Shopko building at 5:30. Reports to KVSH Radio indicate the fishing spawn egg harvest at Merritt Reservoir was very successful. The Valentine boy's basketball team bested Hemingford Monday night in the district final game to earn a trip to the state tournament for the first time in 22 years. Valentine Senior Isaac Cronin scored 42 points in the game against Chase County in the first Round of the South Platte Valley Conference Tournament on Tuesday.
