Badger Boys Headed to Lincoln
The Valentine boy's basketball team bested Hemingford Monday night in the district final game to earn a trip to the state tournament for the first time in 22 years. Valentine dominated the game, winning 99 to 57. Isaac Cronin had an unofficial 40 points and was named Farm Bureau Insurance Player of the Game.

Jehki Williams finished his Senior season with a 48 and 3 record and a 2nd place medal at the state championships in Omaha. Deklin Titus finished 4th with a season record of 37 and 12 as a Junior. VMS Basketball Defeats Todd County
Thanks Brandi Daugherty The middle school boys' basketball team concluded its season on Tuesday night with a 43–33 victory over Todd County. The offense was led by seventh graders Banks Beebout, Tilden Foster, and Wade Daugherty, who each scored in double figures. With this win, the team finishes the season with a solid 6-5 record. 2 Sets of Siblings will compete for Badgers at State
Among the 12 Badger wrestlers that have qualified for individual state championships, there are two sets of siblings that will compete in Omaha this week. Bayley Burdick, a freshman on the girls’ team, has qualified for her first championships, while older brother Trevor is a returning state medalist as a junior. The Burdicks are the children of Byron and Julia Burdick from Wood Lake. Bayley will wrestle at 115 and Trevor at 157. The other siblings are returning qualifiers

6 Lady Badgers qualify for State
The Valentine Lady Badgers wrestling team finished in 3rd place overall at the District B4 wrestling tournament held in Ogallala on February 6th and 7th. there were 36 schools represented ranging from Wayne and Fort Calhoon to Bayard and Bridgeport. Become A Certified Youth Fishing Instructor
Several Certification Classes Will Be Held In Nebraska The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will certify Youth Fishing Instructors at five locations across the state this spring. Middle School Basketball Competes Against Bennett County
Valentine did well Monday. Thanks Brandi Daugherty for the information! In a look at middle school boys' basketball action, Monday night the A team game went into double overtime with the Bennett County Warriors pulling out a 44-47 win. Three Badgers finished in double figures with seventh grader Tilden Foster scoring the most points for his team. Earlier in the evening, Valentine had big wins with the C team winning 11-2 and the B team dominating 46-15.

Lady Badgers Win SPVA Tournament, Boys Finish 3rd
The Valentine Lady Badgers were 3 and 0 in the South Platte Valley Association tournament that finished with final games on Saturday at North Platte Community College. Valentine defeated Hershey in the title game 44 to 33 to win the championship. The boys finished 3rd place with a 70 to 59 win over Hershey boys in the consolation game.

Isaac Cronin Sets VHS School Scoring Record.
Valentine Senior Isaac Cronin scored 42 points in the game against Chase County in the first Round of the South Platte Valley Conference Tournament on Tuesday. With lots of assists from teammates, Cronin had 3 slam dunks, 4 three pointers and was 10 of 13 from the free throw line. Andon Olson held the previous record. The Valentine badger wrestling teams hosted a triangular with Gothenburg and Broken Bow on Thursday evening. The boys dualled both teams, but the girls only had one dual against Broken Bow. Ice Fishing Tournament Postponed
The Valentine Chamber of Commerce has decided to postpone the Cork Thorton Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament. They will shoot for March 6 and 7th depending on ice conditions. This is a major annual fund-raising event that usually brings 40 or more teams to Valentine in the dead of winter. Badger Teams Take 3rd at Holiday Tournament
Gothenburg won both championships with room to spare Wednesday at the Chadron Holiday Basketball Tournament. Four Nebraska volleyball players were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Teams, Nebraska Athletics said Wednesday. The rodeo and horse world have been put on hold with an outbreak of EHV-1 virus in horses. The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team clinched the outright Big Ten title with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 win at No. 17 Indiana in front of a crowd of 2,832 at Wilkinson Hall on Saturday night. The number of athletes out for winter sports look strong in basketball and girls wrestling but are a little slimmer in boys wrestling. Big Game Meeting Across the State
Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game information during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public meetings in December and January. These 2½-hour meetings are scheduled in each Game and Parks district. All in-person meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. local time.
