CSC Opens 2026 Football Season vs. Northern State Thursday

With high hopes for another excellent season, the Chadron State College football team will open its schedule by playing the Northern State Wolves at Aberdeen, S.D., on Thursday, August 27 at 5 p.m. MT.
The Eagles had an 8-4 overall record, were 8-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs last season. They are fourth in the RMAC coaches' preseason poll for this fall.
Things are similar for Northern State. They were 7-4, all against their Northern Sun Conference rivals, last season and are pegged to finish sixth in this year's preseason voting.
Quarterback is expected to be a Chadron State strength. Aidan Thompson, who is 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, returns for his final season after completing 104 of 166 passes for 1,260 yards and 18 touchdowns while being intercepted just three times last fall.
The opposing coaches chose Thompson as the conference's top returning signal caller during their voting in late July. Other Eagles placed on the preseason's top units are center Dominic Castanon, edge rusher William Stemler and linebacker Cooper Walton.
CSC will have six other starters from a year ago it its starting lineup Thursday night.
The Eagles will open their home schedule on Thursday, September 3 when Nebraska-Kearney visits for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
