The Valentine Youth travel baseball season is coming to a close. The 8U Rookies ended their season with a first place finish in the Rosebud League.
They went into the tournament #8 on a blind seeding with a record of 5-1-2.
On June 27th the team played Burke Rookies and earned the first round win by a score of 2-1. George Jerred hit a triple scoring Valentine’s only 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning. They then faced Gregory Red, where George and Finley Walking had hits that scored 1 run each giving Valentine their 2-1 victory and sending the team to the championship.
On Sunday June 28th the team traveled back to Winner for the championship game where they would battle the home team Winner Gold. It was a scoreless game through 3 innings and in the 4th Klay O’Kief hit an in the park Homerun. It was 1-1 at the top of the 7th inning when George had a double scoring 2 runs and
making the score 3-1. The Rookies were able to hold the Winner Gold to no runs and win the tournament!

The 12U majors started their end of the season tournament with a comeback in the 5th inning. The first round of the Rosebud Majors tournament saw Valentine 12U entered the tournament ranked #1 with a 5-2-1 record and faced Winner Gold #8 on Monday June 29th in Burke, SD. After 4 innings the Badgers found themselves having to dig out of an 0-5 deficit. Bases loaded
and 1 out Spencer Beebout stepped up to the plate. He found himself battling with a 3-2 count and got a hold of a pitch that gave him a double and scored 3 runs for Valentine and started the rally. Valentine scored the limit of 7 runs and just needed to stop the Winner Gold in the top of the 6th. The team allowed 1 runner in the 6th but collected the 3 outs and moved on to
semi finals!
The team lost the semi final game against Lyman 10 to 12 and will play Gregory for 3rd place.
