Eagles To Host No. 5 Ranked CSU-Pueblo
The Chadron State College football team knows it will have its hands
full this Saturday (Sept. 19), when it hosts Colorado State-Pueblo
for a 1 o'clock kickoff at Elliott Field.
Pueblo is off to a 3-0 start with wins over Central Missouri
(44-25), Fort Hays State (35-17) and Colorado School of Mines
(45-17). After those impressive victories, the ThunderWolves are
averaging 524 yards of total offense and are ranked fifth in NCAA
Division II.
Pueblo's primary weapon has been quarterback Navi Bruzon and
left-handed sophomore, who has completed 61 of 82 passes for 1,022
yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Eagles are hoping to put up a good fight, just like they did
last year, when they limited Pueblo, which was averaging 40 points a
game, to just 17 points through four quarters and sent the game into
overtime.
Both teams scored a touchdown in the first extra period. CSC kicked
a field goal in the second OT, but Pueblo answered with a touchdown
and won the game 30-27. Both teams advanced to the playoffs.
The Eagles are 1-2 so far this season, with a win over
Nebraska-Kearney, but losses to Northern State of South Dakota and
Western Colorado.
