NE State High School Finals June 10 through 13

There will be 5 performances for the Nebraska High School Rodeo Finals in Valentine next week, June 11th through the 13th at the Cherry County Fairgrounds.  An estimated 170 contestants an

d their families will start to arrive on Wednesday the 10th with a welcome dinner and back-number ceremony at the former Shopko building at 5:30. Guest speaker will be Steven Dent.  The public is invited to join for the ceremony and speaker. Queens competition will start on Wednesday at 9AM at The Berean Church in Valentine. Rodeo performances will be at 11AM and 6PM both Thursday and Friday with grand entries beginning one half hour prior to the performances. Cutting for boys and girls will begin at 7AM on Thursday and Friday and 8AM on Saturday.  The final short-go will be on Saturday with Queen coronation at 12 noon, followed by grand entry at 12:30 and performance beginning at 1PM.  KVSH radio will provide live coverage of the final performance presented by Youngs Western Wear and updates from the entire finals venue. There will be 8 local athletes competing for a chance to go to Nationals in Lincoln in July.

There will also be several venders set up on the grounds both in the 4-H building and around the grounds.  

Other events going on during the finals will be reined cowhorse competition, rifle and trap shooting as well as a volleyball tournament.

It was also announced that state finals rodeo will return to Valentine in 2027 and 2028.
