The Rolling Rock Stays With Valentine

Valentine retained the Rolling Rock Sunday at Frederick Peak Golf Course

with a big rally in the singles round during the annual match play event

between the top golfers from Valentine and Ainsworth.

The Ainsworth squad jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the scramble round. The

teams split both the alternate shot and best ball rounds with 2-1/2 points

in each. Leading by a 9-6 margin heading into the singles round, Ainsworth

needed four of the 10 available points to recapture the Rolling Rock while

Valentine needed 6-1/2 points to retain.

Valentine won seven matches to Ainsworth's three to claim a 13-12 victory.

Valentine has won three straight Rolling Rocks after Ainsworth had a

five-year run of wins.
