Officers responded to 40 calls for service in the past week During the week of April 19th to April 25th, the following arrests were made by the Valentine Police Department: On April 23rd, at 1:00AM, a suspicious circumstances report at the Cherry County Fairgrounds lead to the arrest of a 25 year old Nebraska man for the offense of Procuring Alcohol for a Minor. Tire Amnesty Tuesday and Wednesday in Springview.
The North Central Nebraska RC&D will hold a tire amnesty event in Springview on Tuesday and Wednesday at the old Airport. Tuesday times will be 9AM until 5PM and Wednesday will be 8AM until 4PM. If they reach the 400 ton limit, it will close early. Loads of 20 tires or more will need a scale ticket of weight. A scale will be available near the site. On Saturday, April 18th, investigators conducted tobacco and alcohol compliance checks at several businesses in Dawes and Sheridan Counties. In total, seven businesses were checked for alcohol compliance, and six businesses were checked for tobacco compliance. None of the businesses sold alcohol to a minor for a compliance rate of 100%. Niobrara River Cleanup Announced
Cleanup will be May 23 Area residents are invited to jump‑start the summer on Saturday, May 23, by joining a community river and road cleanup in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Niobrara National Scenic River. Governor Pillen Readies Nebraska National Guard In Preparation For Potential Wildfires
The proclamation was issued Monday On Monday, Nebraska's Governor Jim Pillen issued a proclamation that readies the Nebraska National Guard to assist with any potential major wildfires in the state. According to the proclamation, equipment, personnel and aerial support will all be put on "State Active-Duty" status. This comes after Pillen called upon the state's Nebraska National Guard assisted in battling wildfires that burned almost 875,000 acres.

Wind Disrupts Power To Several City Of Valentine Customers Thursday Night
Winds caused the outage late Thursday in Valentine City of Valentine Electric crews were out Thursday night into Friday morning after wind caused a power outage in the northwest part of town. According to city manager Shane Siewart, the initial call came in shortly after 11pm for the outage that affected approximately 20 electric customers. Wind Suit Will Proceed
According to documents filed on April 2nd in Cherry County district Court, Judge Mark Kozicek ruled on a suit filed by Bluestem Sandhills Kilgore against Cherry County concerning a permit to construct a wind farm near Kilgore. The hearing was held on January 16th as the plaintiffs filed a complaint appealing the Board of Adjustment action affirming a report by the Zoning Administrator determining that the conditional use permit for the wind tower project expired on October 15

Walleye Egg Harvest Collects 97 Million Eggs
Reports to KVSH Radio indicate the fishing spawn egg harvest at Merritt Reservoir was very successful. Local Conservation officer Dana Miller was on the KVSH Comment program and reported Nebraska Game and Parks personnel had nets out for four nights over the past couple of weeks and caught 776 females on those four nights. 470 females were spawning and crews gathered 97 million walleye eggs to help populate fisheries in the state. Shelbourn, Lopez and Isom Take Top Spots in KVSH Bracket Challenge
After reviewing all the entries for the KVSH March Madness Bracket Challenge it was very close for the top spots. There were 62 games and nobody got a perfect card to claim the $940 from KVSH Radio.
