The North Central Nebraska RC&D will hold a tire amnesty event in Springview on Tuesday and Wednesday at the old Airport. Tuesday times will be 9AM until 5PM and Wednesday will be 8AM until 4PM. If they reach the 400 ton limit, it will close early. Loads of 20 tires or more will need a scale ticket of weight. A scale will be available near the site. The proclamation was issued Monday On Monday, Nebraska's Governor Jim Pillen issued a proclamation that readies the Nebraska National Guard to assist with any potential major wildfires in the state. According to the proclamation, equipment, personnel and aerial support will all be put on "State Active-Duty" status. This comes after Pillen called upon the state's Nebraska National Guard assisted in battling wildfires that burned almost 875,000 acres.

Winds caused the outage late Thursday in Valentine City of Valentine Electric crews were out Thursday night into Friday morning after wind caused a power outage in the northwest part of town. According to city manager Shane Siewart, the initial call came in shortly after 11pm for the outage that affected approximately 20 electric customers.
