It’s election season in Nebraska, as the Cornhusker State’s primary election will be Tuesday, May 12th.
Cherry County will mail ballots to registered voters on April 20th. However, the deadline to register to vote online is April 27th, and the in-person deadline to register to vote is May 1st.
If you register to vote after the ballots have been mailed out, you may receive a ballot at the clerk’s office at that time, and for those who register online after the 20th, the county should be notified and will mail the ballots out at that time – but it is recommended that you confirm your registration with the clerk’s office.
Once you receive your ballot, you will have to confirm your identity with an approved legal ID. Instructions will be included. You will also be responsible for returning the ballots to the county clerk’s office no later than the 8pm deadline on May 12th, so if you are returning your ballots by mail, allow several days for delivery. You may also drop your ballots off at the marked ballot receptacle at the Cherry County courthouse at 365 North Main Street in Valentine.
Cherry County voters are also reminded that KVSH Radio will be hosting a county commissioners candidates’ forum on Wednesday evening beginning at 6pm at the MPCC Valentine campus featuring all 4 candidates for commissioner. We encourage everyone who cannot attend in person to listen to KVSH Radio that evening at AM940, KVSH.com or on their mobile device using the Simple Radio app or Alexa.
