6 Lady Badgers qualify for State
The Valentine Lady Badgers wrestling team finished in 3rd place overall at the District B4 wrestling tournament held in Ogallala on February 6th and 7th. there were 36 schools represented ranging from Wayne and Fort Calhoon to Bayard and Bridgeport. The Badger's entered 11 girls in the tournament with over half qualifying for state on February 17th and 18th in Omaha. Valentines for Vets Surpasses Goal
Almost 2000 Valentines were received. Leo Brinda Unit #90 of American Legion Auxiliary reported a very successful Valentines for Vets project. Each year the auxiliary collects Valentines from the community to send to regional veterans’ homes and individuals. It takes over 1,000 to ensure that all the veterans receive a Valentine. Become A Certified Youth Fishing Instructor
Several Certification Classes Will Be Held In Nebraska The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will certify Youth Fishing Instructors at five locations across the state this spring. Bull Bash Livestock Judging
Things are coming together for the 25th annual Bull Bash on February 14th in Valentine. Activities will begin on Friday the 13th with the livestock judging at Valentine Livestock. Skid Loader Fire at Merritt Marks 3 Days of Calls for Valentine Firemen
From Friday to Sunday, firemen responded to multiple traffic accidents, a house fire and a skid loader. Sunday marked the third day in a row that the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department was requested to a fire call. This time, a skid loader reportedly caught fire at the Cottonwood Campground at Merritt Reservoir south of Valentine while clearing some trees. Simultaneous Calls Prompt Emergency Response from Valentine, Rosebud Responders
Rosebud crews requested mutual aid from Valentine Volunteer Fire and Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Service for two calls Saturday afternoon.
