Valentine and Cherry County finally had two months in a row where retail sales were on the positive side. In July, the latest month figures are available, Valentine retail net taxable sales were reported at 9.7 million dollars compared to 9.2 million in 2024. This is an increase of 5.7%.  June sales were reportedly up only 3.4%. Some retailers reported these numbers were barely above inflation figures. The construction project on West 4th Street (HWY 83 North) is nearing completion.   Placement of the concrete roadway and sidewalks is complete.
