Leo Brinda Unit #90 of American Legion Auxiliary reported a very successful Valentines for Vets project. Each year the auxiliary collects Valentines from the community to send to regional veterans’ homes and individuals. It takes over 1,000 to ensure that all the veterans receive a Valentine. Many area residents and groups donate homemade or store-bought Valentines. Those include the official Valentine from the Chamber of Commerce.
Project coordinator Michelle Garwood reported to KVSH News that this year they gathered 1,956 Valentines, almost double what they sometimes received. Mrs. Stoeger’s Middle School Badger Pause class collected around $143 to help cover the postage expenses.
