Emergency crews were dispatched to two incidents within minutes of each other Saturday afternoon. Just before 1:30pm, Cherry County Dispatch requested both the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department and Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Service to the report of a motor vehicle accident just north of the Nebraska/South Dakota state line by the Sicangu Village as well as a structure fire east of Highway 83 on Littleburg Road. Rosebud also responded to these calls. According to VFD Chief Terry Engels, Valentine firemen were ultimately cancelled by Rosebud, although the Cherry County Hospital Ambulance did standby at the structure fire before being sent back after being on scene for a short while.
