The Cherry County Sheriff's Office never asks for payment or bank information over the phone.

From The Cherry County Sheriff's Office Facebook Page: "We’ve received a few calls this week of scammers claiming to be employees of the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office and trying to acquire personal information. Just another reminder, if you’re ever concerned that you may not be speaking to an actual employee of our office, we have no issue with you hanging up and calling back on our non-emergency line at 402-376-1890. This will take you to our dispatch who can get you in touch with a deputy. Also, in no instance will a deputy ever ask for any payment or bank information over the phone. Any court fees, bonds, fines, or anything of that nature is paid in person at the court house or online. We cannot and will not accept payment for anything like this, so if anyone claiming to represent our office is asking for money on the phone, it is a scam. Any time payment is requested in gift cards, crypto, cash cards etc, it should also be a red flag in any instance. If you feel you may be a target in a scam, feel free to get in touch and we will help you out."
