The Nebraska Firearm deer hunting season is only a couple weeks away beginning on November 15th. KVSH checked into the remaining permit numbers through Nebraska Game and Parks.  In the Sandhills Unit there are only 158 remaining permits out of 1,020 allotted.  This was a reduction in the total number of permits for the unit.  The unit has sold out in previous years as many hunters are seeking a mule deer buck in that unit. The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department was paged out after a fire alarm sounded at Valentine’s Elementary School just before 2:30pm on Tuesday.  According to radio traffic from the Cherry County Dispatch, emergency response was cancelled after it was discovered that one of the students at the school had pulled an alarm.  There was no threat to anyone at the school, and the incident was discovered before firemen arrived at th
