North central RC&D Awarded 2 Tire Amnesty Grants for 2026

The North Central Resource and Conservation District was informed this week that they have had two tire amnesty recycling grants approved for 2026.  One grant will cover an event in Springview and the other will be in the O’Neill area.

 Last year the tire recycling was held in Valentine, and the response filled the 200-ton limit in less than one day, meaning some interested parties did not get to drop off their old tires. The RC&D hopes that these two locations can serve the entire 6 county area. It means that some may have to drive a little further to one of the locations.  The grants came from the Nebraska Department of Energy and Environment and will be administered through the North Central RC&D.

Dates and exact locations have yet to be determined. The past tire amnesty days were in the Spring.
