CCH appears to be in a good position financially and in regards to staffing going into 2026.

Cherry County Hospital and Clinic is celebrating a milestone year marked by measurable progress, strengthened performance, and meaningful investments in the future. In early 2025, the hospital launched a new Strategic Plan focused on four key pillars: Workforce Development and Retention, Financial Resilience, Growth and Community Engagement, and Infrastructure and Technology Optimization. These priorities have guided a series of accomplishments that reflect the hospital’s commitment to high-quality care and long-term stability for the communities it serves.

Over the past year, Cherry County Hospital and Clinic has transformed its workforce, rebuilt financial strength, and expanded clinical services. The nursing team has shifted from more than 80% contracted staff to nearly all full-time employees living right here in our community. The lab is also fully staffed locally for the first time in more than seven years. Operational performance has resulted in a year-to-date net income of approximately $3.5 million, about $3 million above budget, and cash reserves have increased by an additional $3.6 million. Service expansion includes new gastroenterology and tele-endocrinology offerings, enhanced tele-neuro/stroke capabilities in the Emergency Department, and upcoming orthopedic growth in early 2026 with Sports Medicine and Hand Specialist care. Our Rural Health Clinic access has also improved, enabling more same-day appointments for acute needs.

In 2025, the hospital completed a comprehensive Master Facility Plan highlighting the need for additional outpatient space and initiated a Financial Feasibility Study to ensure responsible planning for future expansion. With baby deliveries doubling this year and more patients able to access local specialty care, 2025 has underscored the impact of collaboration, planning, and community partnership.

Cherry County Hospital and Clinic extends sincere gratitude to patients, employees, and the entire region for their trust and support. From all of us, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
