It's election season again. Multiple local and county offices are up for re-election along with state and federal races. KVSH Radio has learned that Eric Wickman and Max Renning have filed for election in the partisan Cherry County Sheriff's Office race. Incumbent Sheriff Rusty Osburn stated to KVSH News that he will not seek re-election after 15 years in office and 42 years in law enforcement.

Neil Wescott and Brad Arnold are seeking re-election to their Valentine City Council seats.

Other offices in the area that are up for re-election are Cherry County's assessor, attorney, clerk, as well as the clerk of the district court, public defender, surveyor, treasurer and county commissioners McConaughey and Nelson.

Incumbents Jessica Coyle has filed for VCS Board of Education and Barry Lancaster has filed for Nenzel Board of Trustees.

Other elected positions up for election are the Wood Lake, Cody, Kilgore, Crookston, Merriman, and Nenzel boards of trustees, as well as three seats each for Cody-Kilgore and Valentine Community Schools' boards of education.

The deadline to file for incumbents in the Nebraska primary election is February 17. Non-incumbents have until March 2nd to file for any of the races in Nebraska.

Cherry County Clerk Samantha Leonard clarified that Villages are not on the Primary Election; therefore, those people that wish to file for a village board have a filing deadline of July 15 and Aug 3.
