Valentine Economic Development continues to work on several projects including housing, the theater and now is spearheading a look into parks and trails.

The theater project will be awarding bids for roof work and HVAC.  The total cost of the project has been estimated at around $800,000 and they have raised about $650,000 of the amount needed. They have received grants of $50,000 for roof and HVAC work and another grant, for Creative District, of $100,000 for sound and technical equipment. They will still be months away from showing movies.

On the topic of housing, ED director Mark Hagge told KVSH news that the city has recently completed and sold 2 houses on Edna Street and one on Ray Street. They issued a request for proposals on a property on the 500 block of West Second Street for another single-family home. They are also working on a project at Thatcher and Donoher Street that could be up to three new homes.

The Swayer Memorial Library Building is being looked at as a possible art center for the community.

The Scott Scholars are planning to be in Valentine again this weekend to work on some projects designed to improve the community. They have initiated a survey to inquire about what the community likes or dislikes about parks and trails.  The QR code can be found on the flyer placed around town, or go to the heart city creative district Facebook page for a link.
