The Valentine Chamber of Commerce is planning a new event for this fall in Valentine. A cribbage tournament will be held at the Vet's Club in Valentine on October 24th. Registration begins at 4pm with play to begin at 5PM. Also that evening, the Chamber will sponsor the Chili Cook Off at 6pm and music by Badsquatch at 8PM. Open Plains Transit has informed KVSH News that they continue to struggle with getting reimbursement form Nebraska Department of Transportation to cover operating expenses for the past year. The call went out in the early morning hours on Friday, September 18. At about 2:20 Friday morning, the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department and Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Service were called to Elm Street in Crookston for the report of an oven fire. The oven was removed from the home. There was no other damage, and no injures were reported, according to Fire Chief Terry Engels. Valentine firemen returned to the fire hall after just a short time on scene.

Nitrate was measured at an average concentration of 11 milligrams per liter in two samples collected from Well 501 on August 26 and September 9, 2026.
