Mid Plains Community College Campus in Valentine will be able to begin offering the Registered Nurse Theory classes this year at the local campus. In the past they only offered LPN classes. In the past, students would have to attend classes in North Platte to pursue the RN degree. Local students may still have to attend clinicals in North Platte. The fire was thought to have been caused by a power line issue. Another grass fire around midnight Monday night led to another outing by the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department and Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Service. According to Chief Terry Engels, the fire was likely caused by power line issues, and burned only a small amount of grass near Birch Street on the southwest corner of Valentine.

Multiple departments responded to the fire Sunday south of Highway 12.
