Garden County Wins 6-man Championship
Somebody was going to win its first state championship in program history on Friday night in Kearney. When the dust settled on an exciting Six-Man season, Garden County outlasted Southwest to claim its first state championship in program history with a 41-22 victory over Southwest at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium on the UNK campus. Garden County finishes a perfect season at 12 and 0. Southwest finishes at 11 and 1. Class D-2 finals will be Monday at 2:45 with Wynot playing St.

Huskers Win Big 10 Title
The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team clinched the outright Big Ten title with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 win at No. 17 Indiana in front of a crowd of 2,832 at Wilkinson Hall on Saturday night. Chlorination Continues For Valentine's Water Supply
City Manager Shane Seiwart states that the chlorination continues out of an abundance of caution. KVSH News reported earlier that the City of Valentine began adding chlorine to the municipal water supply on November 14. According to a release from the city, recent routine testing had identified a limited number of positive results for coliform bacteria in the distribution system. Custer Public Power District Announces Planned Outage For Thedford, Seneca, Mullen.
The outage should begin around 2pm Thursday. According to officials with CPPD, there will be a planned power outage beginning at about 2pm Thursday, November 20. Custer Public Power states that this planned outage would affect customers in the Thedford, Seneca and Mullen areas for a couple hours as they do some pre-winter preparations and do some fixes while the weather is still mild. Deer Shot Illegally in Cherry County
KVSH radio confirmed with local Nebraska Game and Parks Conservation Officers that they are looking for information about the illegal killing of a white-tailed buck in Cherry County at McKelvie National Forest. The incident reportedly occurred around November 14th or 15th in Cherry County. The 15th was the opening of the firearm deer season in Nebraska. Badger Winter Sports Numbers
The number of athletes out for winter sports look strong in basketball and girls wrestling but are a little slimmer in boys wrestling. According to the respective coaches there are 18 girls out for basketball including 3 seniors, 5 juniors, 4 sophomores and 6 freshmen. That information from head coach Ian Bish. Retail Sales Up in July and August
Valentine did fairly well in retail sales in the months of July and August when compared to some other peer communities. In July Valentine had a slight bump in sales when compared to 2024 with a 5.7% increase. In August it took another slight increase of 6.3% compared to a year earlier. Holiday Preview This Saturday
This Saturday will be the annual Holiday Preview event in Valentine, sponsored by the Valentine Chamber of Commerce. Some businesses will be open as early as 7AM and some will be open until 8PM. Wreaths Across America Still Reaching for Goal of 900 Wreaths
December 13th will be National Wreaths Across America Day. The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 90 has organized the local program to honor heroes. Listeners can purchase a wreath for $17 and it will be placed on a veteran’s grave at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine on the 13th. You can purchase a wreath for a specific grave site or donate to make sure all veterans’ graves have a wreath. Currently the auxiliary has only sold 454 wreathes. The goal has been 900 to make sure a

Vietnam Vets Tell Their Story
Interviewers with a program called "Project Share Your Story", by the Nebraska Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation are in Valentine today to collect veterans’ stories. They plan to collect 8 stories from area Vietnam Era Veterans and share those stories via their website. County Sheriff Responds to Weekend Incidents
According to Cherry County sheriff Rusty Osburn, authorities were called for three incidents over the weekend. A complaint of shots fired in Kilgore turned out to be a person doing some target practice in the wrong location. The person was arrested due to circumstances. Big Game Meeting Across the State
Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game information during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public meetings in December and January. Multiple Fire Departments Respond To Fire On McKelvie Saturday.
The fire was reported at about 2:40pm Saturday afternoon. Large Grass Fire Burns 12-1700 Acres In Mullen Area
