Producers can earn or renew their Beef Quality Assurance certification at an afternoon workshop, while ranch families can also schedule confidential one-on-one consultations through the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline's free Farm and Ranch Clinic program.

A Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) and Beef Quality Assurance Transportation (BQAT) Certification Workshop will be held at 1 p.m. MT in the Courtroom at the Hooker County Courthouse. The workshop will help producers earn or renew certification while reviewing current best practices for cattle care, handling, transportation, and beef quality. The BQA workshop fee is $20 per person or $100 for operations registering five or more participants. Advance registration is encouraged at //bqa.unl.edu/events.

Also on Nov. 17, ranch families can schedule free, confidential appointments through the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline Farm and Ranch Clinic, which provides one-on-one consultations with an agricultural law attorney and agricultural finance counselor. To schedule an appointment or get more information, contact the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline at 1-800-464-0258.

Clinic topics may include ranch succession and estate planning, farm and ranch loans, USDA programs, lease agreements and property rights, financial and operational concerns, beginning farmer and rancher programs

While BQA certification focuses on cattle stewardship and quality assurance, the Farm and Ranch Clinic addresses many of the business and family issues that influence the future of agricultural operations.
