Several Republican candidates visited Valentine this morning during a campaign swing around the state. Former state senator Julie Slama hosted the event with Congressman Adrian Smith, Senator Pete Rickets and State Treasurer Joey Spellerberg. Slama touched on her adamant support for prohibiting boys in girls sports which is on the ballot. Spellerberg said he will focus on returning unclaimed property to citizens and would stress financial literacy beginning in youth. He stated that amendments 440 and 441 are not the property tax relief we think they are and emphasized the down side of advertising gambling to youth on mobile devices.

Congressman Smith talked about the risk of returning to Biden era policies which were proven to be bad for the country. Senator Rickets stated that “DC Democrats have lost their minds and have been taken over by socialist radicals which aim to tear down this country. Rickets went on to say “I will always be a Senator for Nebraska”. This is in reference to his challenger Dan Osborne being largely supported by California and New York contributions.
