Gierau Wins Year End Prediction Contest
After tabulating all the cards for the 2025 Pigskin Prediction contest, KVSH has determined the overall winners for the year. With 14 weeks of the contest dating back to the end of August, there should have been a total of 140 games to choose from. There were a couple of misprints on the cards or some game scheduling changes that forced us to throw out a few games along the way. Huskers Dominate Big 10 VB Selections
After completing the Big Ten’s first 20-0 campaign since 2009, the Nebraska volleyball program was well represented in the Big Ten Volleyball Postseason Honors announced on Tuesday. Junior setter Bergen Reilly was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Setter of the Year. Head Coach Dani Busboom Kelly was voted Big Ten Coach of the Year by both the coaches and media. The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team capped an unbeaten regular season with a 25-16, 25-13, 25-20 sweep in front of 8,461 at John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday night. Nebraska (30-0, 20-0 Big Ten) finished the regular season unbeaten for the third time in school history (1994 and 2000), dropping only seven sets overall and one in Big Ten play. Equine EHV-1 Puts Hold on Events
The rodeo and horse world have been put on hold with an outbreak of EHV-1 virus in horses. KVSH News talked with Lindsey Adamson Taylor, who is originally from Cody and is currently finishing her veterinarian residency. Garden County Wins 6-man Championship
Somebody was going to win its first state championship in program history on Friday night in Kearney. When the dust settled on an exciting Six-Man season, Garden County outlasted Southwest to claim its first state championship in program history with a 41-22 victory over Southwest at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium on the UNK campus. Huskers Win Big 10 Title
The No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team clinched the outright Big Ten title with a 25-19, 25-16, 25-22 win at No. 17 Indiana in front of a crowd of 2,832 at Wilkinson Hall on Saturday night. The number of athletes out for winter sports look strong in basketball and girls wrestling but are a little slimmer in boys wrestling. Big Game Meeting Across the State
Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game information during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public meetings in December and January. These 2½-hour meetings are scheduled in each Game and Parks district. All in-person meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. local time. A couple of college football games this past weekend fooled some of the participants in the KVSH football prediction contest. Oklahoma beating Alabama was the most prevalent, and Jacksonville State beating Kennesaw State was the other. The top two games on the card were thrown out as they had been played earlier last week. The Class D2-7 All-District football teams have been selected by the district’s coaches. District champion O’Neill St. Mary’s landed the most all-district players with seven. Deer Permit Numbers Dwindle as Season Approaches.
The Nebraska Firearm deer permits are disappearing rather quickly with the season a little over one week away. The season begins on November 15th. KVSH has been monitoring the remaining permit numbers through Nebraska Game and Parks. In the Sandhills Unit there are only 86 remaining permits out of 1,020 allotted. In the Keya Paha Unit, there are currently 710 permits remaining from the total of 2,000. Calamus West has 215 permits left from an allotment of 1190. That num

Lady Badgers Finish VB Season 23-10
Nina Nelson Photo The Valentine Lady Badgers wrapped up a fantastic Volleyball season on Saturday in the district final in West Point Nebraska. Despite the season ending loss to Guardian Angles Central Catholic, the girls completed what may be the best volleyball season on record with 23 wins and only 10 losses. Rough Week in Prediction contest
It was the roughest week so far in the KVSH Pigskin Prediction Contest. With losses by Auburn, Tennessee, Boise State and Nebraska, it took a card with only three wrong to win. Rhule Signs Contract with Huskers
The University of Nebraska and Head Coach Matt Rhule have agreed to a two-year contract extension that extends Rhule’s agreement through the 2032 season.
