Among the 12 Badger wrestlers that have qualified for individual state championships, there are two sets of siblings that will compete in Omaha this week. Bayley Burdick, a freshman on the girls’ team, has qualified for her first championships, while older brother Trevor is a returning state medalist as a junior. The Burdicks are the children of Byron and Julia Burdick from Wood Lake. Bayley will wrestle at 115 and Trevor at 157.
The other siblings are returning qualifiers Reegan Eggert and older brother Rownan. Reegan qualified as the only girl from Valentine last year and makes a return trip at 100 pounds. Rownan will go for a state medal at 126. Parents are Loranna and Tyler Eggert.
Girl's state will begin at 3pm on Tuesday the 17th and conclude on 18th. Boys state wrestling will be Thursday through Saturday. All the action can be heard on KVSH.
Tuesday night will be first round sub-district girls basketball and we will give updates during the game on wrestling.
