VPD Week In Review, August 9-15, 2026

There were 3 arrests reported in the past week, according to the Valentine Police Department

The following three arrests were reported by the Valentine Police Department during

the week of August 9th to August 15th:

At 4:50 PM on August 9th, and officer was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in

the 700 block of East Highway 20. A 53 year old Nebraska man involved in the

accident was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence.

On August 11th, police responded to a disturbance in the 300 block of North

Valentine street shortly after 7:00 PM. A 20 year old Nebraska man was arrested and

charged with Disturbing the Peace.

At approximately 4:00 PM on August 13th, a vehicle that was reported stolen earlier

that day in Rock County was recovered near 5th and Green Streets. Officers from the

Valentine Police Department as well as members of the Cherry County Sheriff's Office

began searching the area for the suspect. He was located at 4:45 PM in the 300

block of North Main Street. The suspect, a 33 year old Illinois man, was arrested

and charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

In all, the police department responded to 33 calls for service during the week,

including:

3 assaults

2 welfare checks

2 traffic stops

2 non-injury accidents

2 disturbances

1 assist the ambulance

1 code violation
