The City of Valentine has hired a Code Enforcement Officer.  Fred Daugherty started checking for code violations on Friday, August 15th.  According to city manager Shane Siewart, the position will pay $18 per hour on a part time basis.  Daugherty will be working with the Valentine Police Department to issue letters and citations for code violations which come with a possible penalty of $100-$500 per infraction daily.  The position was created earlier this year by the city council.  Originally, the police department had asked for the position as the department was short staffed.  The department backtracked on the request after a couple new officers were hired, but the city moved forward creating the position, nonetheless.
