Valentine Volunteer Fire Department and Cherry County Hospital Ambulance Service were requested to two different fire calls early Sunday morning. The first call came in around 3am at the apartment building on the 100 block of Main Street. The initial report was smoke in the hallway of the basement of the complex. Upon arrival, it was determined that a hot stovetop was responsible for the smoke. Then just before 5am, another page went out to firemen for a fire alarm at the Berean Bible Church on 7th street in northeast Valentine. This turned out to be a false alarm and firemen returned to the fire hall after a short time on scene.
