The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department was requested to smoke reported in the canyon area south of Valentine in the Niobrara River valley area near mile marker 106. Upon arrival to the area, firemen discovered that the seasonal pollen release from cedar trees was creating a smoky looking cloud of pollen. A large portion of the area was in the pollen cloud that prompted the response, however no smoke or fire was found, and firemen returned to the fire hall shortly after arriving on scene.
