The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of a tractor fire about a mile south of the “Y” on Highway 83. The call came in at about 2:10pm. According to fire chief Terry Engels, the fire had been extinguished by the time firemen arrived, and the fire was fortunately contained to the tractor as temperatures were around 90 and winds out of the south gusting to about 30 to 35 miles per hour. It is believed that the fire was likely caused by an electrical issue.
