Theater, Mural and Housing Discussed on KVSH Comment Program.

The Heart City Creative District continues to enhance the downtown Valentine area. Recently the 130 by 16-foot mural was finished depicting the culture and natural beauty of the area. There is an official dedication tentatively planned for September 12th. More details  to come.

 Jamie Eggert gave an update on the community theater project in the downtown area.  They expect contractors to begin working inside the building within the next couple of weeks. The total cost of the project will be about $850,000.  They currently have around $625,000 to work with and some grants that could help.  More fund raising could be a possibility.  They hope to show movies in the facility in December of this year.

Economic Development Director Mark Hagge also reported that they continue to pursue housing opportunities and offer revolving business loans and façade grants to businesses.  The latest housing project in the Western part of Valentine could include up to a dozen homes in the future.  Construction on the first home is underway.
