Fire At Sunrise Apartments In Mission Leaves Structure A Total Loss

Mission Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at Sunrise Apartments in Mission Saturday evening at about 5:15pm.  Firemen were already on scene of a traffic incident at the time of the fire call.  According to Chief Joe Moore, Valentine Volunteer Fire Department was immediately requested for mutual aid to the fire, responding with a wonder pumper and their ladder truck.  Moore stated that the entire structure was fully engulfed by the time firemen arrived on scene.  Firemen led a defensive suppression against the blaze, ensuring that it did not spread to nearby buildings or vegetation.  The building was empty at the time of the fire, and no injuries or fatalities were reported.  Moore tells KVSH News that the fire was considered suspicious and is currently under investigation.  Moore also extended his thanks to the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department, saying that their help with containing the blaze was very much appreciated.  Firemen returned to the fire hall at around 10pm.

This is the second fire reported at the Sunrise Apartment building in 2026. The first one caused significant damage to the building in late February.
