From Rosebud Sioux Tribe,
"The Rosebud Sioux Tribe and Rosebud Agency Fire Management are advising all residents that the Reservation continues to experience prolonged dry conditions. Since last year, precipitation levels have been below normal, and fuels remain extremely dry across the area. Grasses, brush, and woody materials are highly receptive to ignition.
Forecasted weather conditions for (Friday) include gusty winds and low relative humidity, creating the potential for rapid fire spread. Under these conditions, a single spark could result in a large, fast-moving grass fire that threatens homes, livestock, and community infrastructure.
Effective immediately and until further notice, a Reservation-Wide Burn Ban is in place for all lands within the exterior boundaries of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Reservation, including trust, fee, and assigned lands in the communities of Rosebud, St. Francis, Parmelee, Spring Creek, Ring Thunder, Upper Cut Meat, Antelope, and surrounding communities.
Absolutely no open burning of debris or trash, brush piles, woody material, or use of burn barrels is permitted. Dumping stove ash outdoors, prescribed burns, or any outdoor flame-producing activity that may ignite dry vegetation is prohibited. Propane or natural gas grills with on/off controls and enclosed cooking devices with spark arrestors may be used with extreme caution. This Burn Ban will remain in effect until sustained moisture and improved weather conditions significantly reduce the fire danger.
