Pedestrian Dead After Traffic Incident Near White River Saturday

Mellette County Sheriff’s Office reported in an online posting that on Saturday morning at approximately 11:00 AM, a traffic incident occurred on US Highway 83, roughly 8 miles south of White River. A southbound semi-truck struck a female pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identities of individuals involved will not be released until next of kin is notified.
Rosebud Sioux Tribal Police is leading the investigation into this incident.
