Over 100 Runners Compete In 1st Annual Valentine Marathon

Ten states were represented in the Valentine race

The “Heart City” was host to the first annual Valentine Marathon on Saturday morning.  The morning included a 5K, 10k, Half Marathon, Full Marathon as well as an Ultra Race.  While there was rain falling north of Valentine and the forecast predicted the mid 80’s later in the afternoon, over 100 runners enjoyed cooler temperatures and a light breeze making for great conditions.  According to race coordinator Mark Gudgel, there were over 100 runners signed up for the event.  While there were many runners from Valentine and the surrounding area, there were 10 states represented, with runners from as far away as Florida, and even one runner from South Africa competing.  Gudgel stated that this Boston Marathon qualifying event is expected to be an annual event with 2026 scheduled for August 1^st.  Results should be available soon, so stay tuned to KVSH Radio for those updates.
