Officer James Scott

A police escort for Officer James Scott started at Holmes Funeral Home in Valentine at 3PM on Thursday and proceeded to The Rosebud Reservation. James A. ‘Jim’ Scott, 68, of Parmelee, passed away on July 16, 2025.He was raised on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation and attended the Indian Police Academy in Artesia, NM graduating October 22, 1990. He went on to work at the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 20 years. After his retirement from BIA in May 2013, he came back home to his roots on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation where he worked as a law enforcement officer for RSTLES until his death. Jim dedicated 38 years to law enforcement.

 Funeral service will be at 1pm on Friday, July 25, 2025 with interment at Trinity Episcopal Cemetery in Mission.
