NSP has arrested multiple people in western NE homicide, Sen. Fischer frustrated by Dems blockade of Trump nominees, UNL to cut $27.5M, Department of Corrections talks about work ethic camp.

NSP officials arrested a couple of people, Tamara Bingham, 26 of Alliance Matthew Landreth,36. The arrests come after a suspected homicide in Box Butte County. Investigators have found human remains, and have charged Bingham with 1st degree murder, Landreth as an accessory to a felony.


Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE) has said that Democratic senators are blocking Trumps nominees and have done so repeatedly over the past several months, slowing the process using several tactics in the Senate. There are about 1,200 nominees that still need to be confirmed.


UNL Chancellor Bennett released a video on Friday discussing a sizeable cut of $27.5 million. These cuts are due in part to declining tuition revenue, as well as increased costs of employee benefits, expensive utilities payments, and limited appropriations from the state.


Nebraska's Correctional Services department director Rob Jeffreys addressed public safety and other concerns of community members last week in relation to the conversion of the Work Ethic Camp to an ICE detention center.
