A 76-year-old man from Ashby found guilty of shooting a friend following a night of drinking will be spending at least five years behind bars. A firearms charge carries a mandatory 5 year minimum.
Following a three-day trial last week, a Grant County District Court jury took about two hours to find Duane Meester guilty on several charges.
District Judge Travis O’Gorman continued the Ashby man’s bond of $500,000 ten percent and ordered a pre-sentence investigation, with sentencing to be set at a later date.
