July Retail Sales Up for Valentine

Valentine and Cherry County finally had two months in a row where retail sales were on the positive side. In July, the latest month figures are available, Valentine retail net taxable sales were reported at 9.7 million dollars compared to 9.2 million in 2024. This is an increase of 5.7%. June sales were reportedly up only 3.4%. Some retailers reported these numbers were barely above inflation figures.
Other area comparable retails sales reported by the Nebraska Department of Revenue included:
Ainsworth up only 1.7%
Broken Bow was down 10.5%
Chadron up less than one half of one percent.
Atkinson and O’Neill were both up about 5.5%
Gordon was down 10 percent
Hooker county reported a 2.9% increase and Thomas County was up a nice 16%.
