The Nebraska Firearm deer hunting season is only a couple weeks away beginning on November 15th. KVSH checked into the remaining permit numbers through Nebraska Game and Parks. In the Sandhills Unit there are only 171 remaining permits out of 1,020 allotted. This was a reduction in the total number of permits for the unit. The unit has sold out in previous years as many hunters are seeking a mule deer buck in that unit.
In the Keya Paha Unit, there are currently 890 permits remaining from the total of 2,000. Calamus west has 446 permits left from an allotment of 1190.
There are still a few other permits available such as river antlerless, or season choice and landowner permits in parts of the state.
If you don’t get a permit for the regular firearm season, there is always the muzzleloader season that runs during the month of December.
