Fire Update Near Fort Robinson

The Log Road Fire continues to burn to the east/northeast of Harrison. The latest update from the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency has the fire at 1,500 acres and remains at 0% containment. 

Wednesday command of the incident transitioned to a Nebraska Type 3 Incident Management Team. Resources from local volunteer fire departments remain on scene. 

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has issued a disaster declaration which authorized the use of state resources and funding support to protect life and property. 

The United States Forest Service is providing mutual aid.

The release says that the Nebraska National Guard is supporting the efforts with both aviation and ground resources. Tuesday two Chinook helicopters and one Black Hawk helicopter dropped approximately 34,000 gallons of water during 17 drops. 19 Nebraska Army National Guard Soldiers supported the mission with the number rising to 32 by the end of the day Wednesday.
