The Chadron Community Foundation has announced the creation of the South Fork Fire Relief Fund to provide assistance to individuals, ranchers, and local fire departments impacted by the South Fork Fire in the Nebraska Pine Ridge. The South Fork Fire has forced evacuations in parts of Crawford and Fort Robinson State Park, closed major highways, and threatened ranching operations across the Pine Ridge. Small communities with limited resources are now facing significant strain on emergency services and local businesses as communities work to support one another during recovery.
"The people of the Pine Ridge region are resilient, but disasters of this magnitude place tremendous strain on families, ranching operations, emergency responders and the local economy as a whole" said Senator Storer. "I appreciate the Chadron Community Foundation's leadership in establishing this fund and providing an opportunity for Nebraskans to support their neighbors during this difficult time."
Individuals wishing to support recovery efforts may contribute to the South Fork Fire Relief Fund by mailing donations to:

Online donations may also be made through the Chadron Community Foundation website at www.ChadronFoundation.org.
