Disabled Veterans In Nebraska To Qualify For Tax Exemption On Vehicle Registration in 2026.

LB 650 allows disabled veterans to apply for tax exemption on their primary transportation.

LB 650 recently passed the Nebraska Unicameral allowing disabled veterans an opportunity to receive a tax exemption for their primary transportation vehicle.  According to Veterans' Service Officer Ashley Blume-Vackiner, veterans with any disability rating of 0%-100% can stop by or call the Veterans’ Service Office in Valentine to be updated in the DMV system.  The system updates every evening at 7:30 pm so this will need to be done prior to the registration being due.  Veterans taking advantage of this government benefit will need to provide proof of their disability at the Treasurer's office.  Anyone with questions should call Ashley at 402-376-2680.
