Cherry County 4-H Special Foods Day Results

There was a total of 13 participants in the Cherry County 4-H Cupcake War and Special Foods Contest that was held June 9, 2026, with Shalee Arendt & Hannah Beel as the judges. Youths between the ages 5-18 participating in cupcake decorating,
complete with a creatively designed tablescape. A menu/table setting class option was available for participants not wishing to bake/cook. Special Foods contestants were required to cook a recipe item in front of the judge with a maximum time allowance of 90 minutes. They also had to design a menu and a table setting and they plated their recipe. In addition, contestants in Special Foods were required to complete a personal MyPlate assessment and answer basic nutrition questions in an
interview with the judge. Food safety is also a major component of this well-rounded competition. If contestants are 11 years old or older, and have competed at least three years, they are required to compete in the "advanced" level with a challenge ingredient. This year's advanced ingredient was potato.
