The announcement came early Monday.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe is honored to join ten other Great Sioux Nation Tribal governments in signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. This historic agreement strengthens government-to-government collaboration to protect and steward the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands for future generations.

Signed during the 150th anniversary of the Battle of the Little Bighorn, the agreement reflects our shared commitment to protecting sacred lands, preserving our cultural heritage, supporting conservation efforts, and creating opportunities for future generations of Indigenous leaders. The complete MOU was posted on social media from the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.
