The 138th annual Old Settler Reunion will be held this Saturday at Sparks Nebraska beginning with Bowery program at 10AM. The weather promises to be 75 degrees, so come enjoy the day with friends and family.
The celebration began in the 1880’s, starting with building a church which was dedicated in 1888 with a celebration called Harvest Home. That was the start of a 138-year-old tradition.
This Saturday will start with Bowery program at 10AM, along with the horseshoe tournament. After the program, they will begin the small sports with various foot races, gunny sack race, egg toss, and wheelbarrow race among others.
The rodeo will begin at about Noon with events for young and old alike. Highlights will include the businessman’s roping along with horse races to end the day.
Tom Owens will have the concession stand open all day for food and drinks. The general public is welcome to attend this long standing, family orientated event on Saturday.
