On the KVSH Comment program this morning, we talked with Sally “Sherman” Ruelas about the Warrior Bonfire Program.  Sally is originally from Cherry County and now resides in Wisconsin. The Warrior Bonfire Program creates activity based small group retreats for purple heart warriors. So far there have been 31 states and Puerto Rico that have hosted over 200 retreats, serving over 1,157 veterans.  Each retreat costs about 10 to 15 thousand dollars to cover transportation, meals, lodging and other costs associated with hosting the events.

After hosting eight such retreats in Wisconsin, Sally would like to bring purple heart award winners to Cherry County for a retreat in the summer of 2026.  If you would like to help with a financial contribution or host the veterans at your ranch for part of the day, contact Sally at 480 818 0581.  There are numerous ways you can help out such as providing transportation, meals, catering and lodging.
