Senator Pete Rickets Visits Cherry County.

Senator Pete Rickets was in Valentine today. He started with a lunch with a small group of businesspeople, ranchers, tourism representatives and some press. State Senator Tanya Storer was also present. Ranchers expressed concern about pasture leases on the Valentine National Wildlife Refuge and fear of losing access to acres. It was pointed out that there are fewer acres open for grazing leases and the refuge removed all cedar trees and mentioned a plan to get rid of deciduous trees in the future. There were also comments about the refuge mandated virtual fencing with collars on cattle and how data could be used inappropriately.
Other topics included year around E-15 fuel and the farm bill. They also discussed AM radio in all vehicles. Later in the day Senator Rickets met with the public at Old Mill. Rickets started the talk saying that “DC Democrats have lost their minds”. He stated that the Democratic Socialist of American is only one third of the party but they control the entire party. He also stated that his opponent Dan Osborne is :”out of step with Nebraskans” is not an independent, but rather a far right democrat.
