Fire South Of Kilgore Sparks Quick Response By Area Firemen

The fire was reported south of Kilgore late Thursday afternoon.

The Kilgore and Cody Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched to the report of a wildfire burning in the Niobrara River canyon area south of Kilgore near the Johnson place and the new Amish community late Thursday afternoon. According to Kilgore Fire Chief Todd Rothleutner, the Cedar Canyon Fire burned approximately 5-8 acres. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
