Rosebud Fair, Old Settlers, Event Center Auction Highlight Weekend

It was a very busy weekend of activities this past weekend in the KVSH area.
The Rosebud fair welcomed thousands of visitors for the rodeo, native dance competition, food venders, music festival and ball games.
The 139th annual celebration of the Old Settlers Reunion was held on Saturday at Sparks, featuring bowery program, foot races, amature rodeo, goat roping and more. Tom and Doris Owens from the Sparks area were named the Oldest male and female settlers in attendance bot having recently celebrated a 90th birthday. The youngest female in attendance was Leora Schubaur and youngest male was Parker Sramek.
On Sunday, the Cherry County Visitors Promotion Board hosted an auction at the fairgrounds to help with fund raising and awareness for the new events center in Valentine. Officials reported to KVSH that preliminary figures were showing over $35,000 in proceeds. This will be applied to the 1.5-million-dollar match and could double if they reach the match. They are continuing to secure more funding.
The board were grateful for the people who donated items and those who came to purchase items. Also a thank you to Connot Brothers Auction Service for handling the sale. The Cherry County Ag society provided the bus barn area for the auction.
