More Candidates File For Cherry County Election

Several positions will be contested in Cherry County in 2026.

Clint Assarson entered the race for the Valentine Community Schools Board of Education. Clint challenges incumbents Jessica Dawson-Coyle and Gregory Gass.

Maggie Cox will be running for Cody-Kilgore School Board as well as Shara Ford, who had submitted her candidacy on February 9th.

KVSH Radio had previously announced that the Cherry County Commissioners' race is getting more crowded with the recent addition of Wade Andrews in that race. Andrews and Duane Kime will be up against incumbents Mike McConaughey and Nina Nelson for the two seats that are up for election this round.

Another contested race is the Cherry County Sheriff's seat being vacated with the retirement of current sheriff Rusty Osburn. Deputies Max Renning and Erick Wickman are currently running for that position.

A reminder that the deadline to file for the 2026 primary in Cherry County is 5pm on Monday March 2nd.
