Local Korean War Veterans Honored

Three Korean War Veterans were honored Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial in Valentine. The State of Nebraska minted a coin in recognition of the veterans of the Korean War across the state.  Rex Gallino and Cherry County Veterans’ Service Officer Ashley Vackiner presented Jerry Henderson’s last Friday at the nursing home in Bassett.  The Korean War Medals for Richard “Dick” Stiefel and Gilbert Witte were presented on Wednesday.

LeRoy Graves is also one of the surviving Korean War vets from this area, and is in a nursing home in Norfolk.  His coin will be presented at a future date.
